Coming up in the February issues of Practical Sailor magazine...

In the February 1 issue...
SEA ANCHOR TEST

When you really need one, it's nice to know you've got the right sea anchor for your boat. We took products from Fiorentino and Para-Tech to sea and tried them out. Have a look at our report.

MORE PRACTICAL WEBSITES
After offering a survey of 26 useful websites several years ago, we're back with some more. There truly are some great resources available on line to sailors, and we've examined two-dozen of them.

HEADINGS: CONTEMPORARY DESIGNERS' CONFERENCE
We interviewed five of sailing's leading naval architects. Read what the designers of Valiants, Tartans, Hunters, Sabres, and Geminis have to say about the market they serve, and how they go about conceiving the boats they design.

MAINSAIL TRACK HARDWARE
From slides to slugs to cars, there's a world of options for getting your mainsail up and down the mast. We surveyed the landscape and offer a comprehensive take on it all.

Also in this issue...
Editorial: Human Resources; Mailport; Electronics: Standard Horizon's CP1000C and Garmin's GPS 60; and PS Advisor: Eyeglass Quandary.

In the February 15 issue...
TEAK TREATMENT ALL-STARS FINALE
After two years in the elements, we've hauled our teak boards in and examined them for the final time. It appears that Epifanes is the way to go for a glossy finish, and Sikkens' Cetol takes top honors for matte finishes.

CHAINPLATES REVISITED
When the chainplate system failed on board a new J/133--with our reviewer on board--we felt it was time to do a little probing. Here's our initial report, along with some important background on the issue of how best to attach your shrouds to the boat.

NON-SKID CLEANER TEST
We rounded up eight marine-specific non-skid cleaners, along with some household cleaning products, and put them to the test against some hard-to-clean stains. In the end, we like the products from Meguiar's and 3M, but there are less expensive options.

Also in this issue...
Mailport; Chandlery (Schaefer's Universal Deck Mount); PS Advisor: Waxes that Cut?
