Coming up in the September issue of
Practical Sailor magazine...
SURVEYORS SURVEYED
Whether you're buying or selling a boat, a lot can depend upon the
surveyor you choose to hire. We offer this overview of the profession by
interviewing a broad spectrum of surveyors across the U.S.
FIXED-MOUNT VHF RADIOS
As a companion piece to our July 15 issue's article on inexpensive
fixed-mount VHF radios, here's an evaluation of the high-end models. We
gathered seven top-dollar radios and put them through their paces.
ECONOMICAL INFLATABLES
In the second of our two-part series, we examine seven roll-up inflatable
boats that are priced under $1,200. We found a couple that are good
bargains, but none more so than Mercury's 240 RU.
LED RUNNING LIGHTS
LED running lights are getting better all the time. Red and green lights
are now equally as bright as their incandescent counterparts, though the
white stern and anchor lights still pale in comparison. We evaluated 24
products and found a couple of good bets for running lights as well as one
outstanding tri-color light.
BOAT REVIEW: THE NEW COLUMBIA 30
A once respected, now resurrected, Southern California boatbuilder offers
a mid-size boat with impressive performance and enough of a minimalist
interior to allow weekend cruising.
Also in this issue...
Editorial: Skeptical on Surveyors; Mailport; Chandlery: Lifeline Netting,
SeaDek, and Accon's Pop-Up Cleat; and PS Advisor: Remote Units for VHF
Radios.
